Projects - Web Care Campaign 2009 - Web Care Award
|
Background The Web Care Award was established to encourage both public service organizations as well as private business corporations to build no-barrier web sites. The "Easy Guide to Building No Barrier Web Sites" booklet published in 2001 serves as a guide to web site creators, commercial organizations, and media channels on how to produce web sites that can be used by all members of the community, including the physically impaired. These no-barrier web sites provide needy communities with equal opportunities in sharing the benefits brought about by the development of Internet in Hong Kong.
Objectives To educate corporations, organizations and the public on the primary elements of an accessible website. 1. To recognize those barrier-free websites in accordance with the Guidelines as stipulated in the "Easy Guide to Building No Barrier Website" and pass both automatic validators recommended by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). 2. To promote e-Inclusion concept in Hong Kong so as to encourage the public and the private sectors to provide barrier-free Internet services. Web Care Award 2009- 10
